All registered voters should have the right to vote in all taxpayer funded elections

Nevada denies independent voters the right to vote in our closed primary elections. That means the 1 million registered voters who are neither Republican or Democrat, many of them military veterans and first responders, are being denied an equal voice in elections their tax dollars pay for.

Question 3 will open our primaries to give all registered voters the right to vote in every election, regardless of political party registration.

The candidates finishing in the top five of the primary make it to the November election, where all voters will be allowed to rank candidates in order of preference. Needing majority support to win, candidates will have to focus on the issues of everyday people and not attacking their opponents, increasing civility in our campaigns and making them more accountable to the communities they serve.

Why NevadansSupport Question 3

No Nevadan should be forced to pick just one party to vote in an election that is paid for by taxpayers

Many of our military veterans and first responders are Independent voters, and they are being denied an equal voice in our elections. This works for the political insiders from both parties – not us. The truth is that veterans, teachers, fire fighters, and everyday people are supporting Question 3 because it gives all voters a voice in every election our tax dollars pay for.

Open Primaries Give All Voters The Right to Vote

Question 3 returns power to the people of Nevada. Open primaries mean more Nevadans have a voice. This leads to better choices of candidates, who will focus on issues that really matter to Nevadans. Candidates will no longer be forced to pivot to extreme policies to make it out of the primary, reducing polarization and partisan bickering from both sides.

More and Better Choices on the November Ballot Leads to More Civility and More Accountable Office Holders

Allowing voters to rank candidates in order of preference on the November ballot gives voters more and better choices, so Nevadans will no longer be forced to choose between the ‘’lesser of two evils’’. Needing majority support to win, candidates will have to focus on the issues of everyday people and not attacking their opponents, increasing civility in our campaigns, and making politicians more accountable to the communities they serve.
